DIGITALLY-METERED & MATCHED CTS 500k pot - Set of 4

Matched sets of pots are expensive and fairly rare. Why? Because, out of every 100 pots produced, there are probably 10 to 15 that actually test at or over 500k. As in every electronic product (even with CTS), there is an acceptable variance in a product from the manufacturer. With pots, it's +/-20%. That means a "500K" pot could meter out to be 400k. (it happens!) So, we must test every single pot on our digital meter to find pots that meter out over 500k in value. Why is that important? Well... guitarists that are Tone Monsters insist that, in order to get really great tone from a humbucker pickup, the pots that you use must be 500k or over. Under 500k tends to attenuate (bleed off) more highs than it should (making a humbucker pickup sound even darker than it already does) and the lower the pickup value, the more highs bled off. (Single coil pickups naturally produce a lot more highs than humbuckers so we use 250k pots to cut some of those highs so the pickups don't sound too harsh but you don't want that in a humbucker.)
We guarantee that each set of our Matched 500k CTS Pots will have a tolerance of no more than 15k and usually much tighter. That makes the performance much more predictable & dependable.
